Restrictions on Self-Defense Sprays
• No restrictions: WA, ID, MT, WY, ND, SD, NE, IA, KS, OK, NM, AZ, UT, CO, LA, TN, GA, KY, IN, OH, PA, WV, VA, VT, NH, CT, ME
• Some restrictions: OR, NV, CA, AK, TX, MN, WI, IL, MO, AR, MS, AL, FL, SC, NC, NY, NJ, MA, RI
New York residents may purchase defense sprays only from licensed firearms dealers or licensed pharmacists in that state.
Massachusetts residents may purchase defense sprays only from licensed firearms dealers in that state.
Michigan: OC pepper sprays can be no stronger than a 2% concentration. CS is the only tear gas accepted and can be no larger than 35 grams per container. No combination sprays are allowed.
